SECTION 1: (The CBL will become 8 team capped leagues)
8 team capped league with a 7 game season, followed by Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals, giving the top 4 teams a 10 game season and bottom 4 teams 8 games.
Should a division not reach the required 8 teams, the CBL Committee will decide on a team from the next division up or down to be demoted or promoted if there are no other teams who meet CBL Tier 1 or 2 membership requirements as set out below, waiting to be accepted.
If a division is over subscribed by teams with CBL Tier 1 membership then the CBL Committee will determine a team to move up or down from their requested division.
With a capped team number, any division not filled by teams meeting CBL Tier 1 membership, the CBL Committee will decide to allocate any open places to teams applying based on several criteria listed in Section 2 to 4 of this proposal.
Should a large over subscription of teams occur, the CBL Committee may decide to go with a pool system in that division. Ideally this would be if at least 12 teams have registered for a division.
SG Basketball has decided to allocate a three tier system of membership as follows.
Membership Tiers of CBL Clubs/teams will be as follows;
SECTION 2: (criteria of CBL Tier 1 membership)
Ability to host games. (home court)
Willingness to host other Tier 1 members games to accommodate ease of schedule.
Willingness to host teams (who have been accepted by CBL Committee as Tier 2 or Tier 3 members) to accommodate ease of schedule.
Willingness to host Finals games of all teams depending on need. This is shared across all clubs and will be fair and equitable amongst clubs.
A club that does not have the capacity to host all of its home games may be deemed only a partial CBL Tier 1 Member and may be subject to some of the criteria under Section 4.
Examples of teams meeting this criteria are Sharks, Fastbreak, Jaguars, Phoenix, Proform, Stingers, Grizzlies & Lions.
SECTION 3: (criteria of CBL Tier 2 membership)
This is often school teams without the ability to host games. (No home court)
Teams must have a good track record from previous CBL attendance.
Acceptance is purely by need to fill positions in Divisions requiring 8 teams.
Teams must abide strictly by all CBL rules and guidelines.
Registration of CBL fees will be required in full before the third week of the season.
Examples of teams meeting this criteria are Nanyang, KX Youth and Taonan.
SECTION 4: (Clubs/Teams wanting to join CBL from revenue generating organisations as deemed by the CBL Committee, without home court)
Acceptance is purely by need to fill positions in Divisions requiring 8 teams.
All games that are allocated to another CBL full member clubs venue will come with a fee of $50.00 above referee fees to be paid to the hosting club before the game commences.
Registration of CBL fees will be required in full before the third week of the season.
Examples of teams meeting this criteria are SBA and STBA (not able to host all their games).
